TTG Tee Review #1 – Big Drop by Thriving Ink
I love t-shirts. I love to BUY t-shirts. So….thus….I want to REVIEW t-shirts. Maybe someday this will turn into a video review segment, but for now the written word will do just fine. Saves me from tripping over my words and nit-picking everything!
First up…… Thriving Ink! I’m happy to do this review, and I hope that if you have a TI shirt en route to you, after you read this review, you’ll be that much more excited for your package in the mail.
So, where to start? At the mailbox, of course! Because that’s where Matt starts with his branding. His envelope. It’s deceiving….looks just like a regular mailer. Not so much. Flip that bad boy over, and here’s what is greeting you:
Bang! A custom mailer! Love it. Nice touch, Matt. Doesn’t go unnoticed. Now, if you are a t-shirt designer, don’t feel like you HAVE to go this route. People are just as happy getting your gear in the mail if it’s in a regular mailer. This just adds that extra touch to each order. High five!
Now, my first thought was to wait to open it until I started this review, but I couldn’t resist. I had to dig right in. After all, I had ordered this tee and knew it was coming, so I knew I wanted to wear it. I could’ve went with a size smaller, but I was THRILLED with what was inside the bag. I love seeing new t-shirts!
Here’s the tee that I ordered, you can pick it up on the official Thriving Ink site for just $19.95. Although, I scored a Seafoam colored one, now it looks like it might only be available in Grey. Matt can confirm that for us though. Shirts are printed on American Apparel. Made in the USA. Printed and sewn in the Bay Area, CA. Because printing is an art form, each shirt may vary slightly! Shirt features front artwork, inside size label print, and hand sewn Ink Drop label.
So here it is:
Gorgeous, I love it! It looked exactly like I pictured it to, but with extra love jam packed in. The hand sewn drop was awesome (see pics below), and the addition of the custom tag inside the shirt was great. Again, not everyone has to go this route, but this is a great extra thing to do, if you can. Helps fight the itchy tag syndrome. Who likes that? Not me.
The shirt is super soft and light-weight. Can be worn on the hottest of days without feeling like you are going to pass out. Some tees are just too thick, this one is great. American Apparel puts out a great product and it’s great when you can take advantage of that and print your products on it. The Seafoam color is right up my alley, and you don’t see it around enough. I’m glad that’s the color I went with. Although, this would look awesome on Grey too. Great choices, Matt.
The tee fit wonderfully (I’ll try and get a shot with me in it and add it to this post when I can) and it was very comfortable to wear. I can see this tee quickly becoming one of my favorites. I’m proud to show off my Thriving Ink logo tee everywhere!
Here’s a close up of the hand sewn tag, back and front:
Matt hand sews all of these tags himself, which is awesome. Many designers send them out to be sewn, but it’s great to hear that everything with Thriving Ink is done in house. He really pays attention to detail with his shirts and it shows.
All in all, a great t-shirt from Thriving Ink, and I can go out on a limb here and say that ANY shirt you get from Thriving Ink will be just as great and you can feel confident in ordering from Matt. Two thumbs up and a great shirt to start out the official TTG Tee Reviews with!
