TTG Brand Spotlight – Crazy Go Lucky

What should you expect from a brand created and operated by a guy called Crazy Mike? The long answer: something fun, quirky, animated, bright and eccentric; the short answer: Crazy Go Lucky. “Crazy” Mike De Jesus founded the brand, Crazy Go Lucky, in 2006 as a creative outlet for his graphic design skills. As the brand began to grow, it started to take on a life of its own with characters, plots and story lines.
The inspiration for this t-shirt line comes from years of playing video games and watching TV shows such as Family Guy, American Dad, Dave Chapelle and Reno 911 to name a few. You can imagine with that kind of TV show lineup that the tees are not to be taken too seriously. Nope, they are intended to be fun and they have done a good job at achieving that.
One of the key components to having a successful t-shirt brand is to have a story that people can get behind and enjoy. Crazy Go Lucky takes that to a whole new level. There is a characters page on their website explaining the history and roles of each character featured in their designs. This is a brilliant marketing concept because one of the first t-shirts I noticed was the Panda Assassin tee and I immediately wanted to know the story behind it. One trip over to the characters page and I was able to find a complete bio of Panda. It was interesting to find out that the blood on Panda’s face was simply due to a lack of proper hygiene and a tough ego.

With the exception of Monkey Mayhem, the t-shirts are designed in bright color combinations that definitely catch the eye. And while Monkey Mayhem may be black and white, the coolest feature about it is the opportunity to customize it and make it your own with sharpies. I didn’t see a reference to this idea anywhere on the product page but I think people could really have fun coloring this design to match their style.

I’d like to encourage you to check out the rest of their t-shirts and browse their site to get to know the world of Crazy Go Lucky. You will definitely be entertained!
