12 Days Xmas Interview: Print Monkey
Today we got a chance to round out this fourth and final brand on day four of the Xmas giveaway with Print Monkey. A big part of the giveaway in helping spread the word we spoke on; how to stand from the crowd, what 2012 has in store, Carte postale, ATHQ & don’t give them pom poms for Xmas!

What are Printmonkey all about?
PrintMonkey is about cutting edge design on fashion forward shapes at realistic prices.
What makes you stand out the most in the online t-shirt world?
We stand out from the crowd of everyday, large run t-shirt companies by producing highly original design work in smaller quantities. Effectively we produce limited run, designer t-shirts at high street prices.
What has been the best part of 2011 for you?
Seeing our brand take off. We started with a simple launch party, in London’s Shoreditch, back in April and have watched with awe as the word has spread organically (through blog posts and online social networks) to a point where we are now selling in the likes of: Germany, Italy, France, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Malaysia and Australia! Our core market remains the UK but it’s been amazing to see our tees travel across the globe!
How do you intend on improving that in 2012?
By spreading the Printmonkey word further and as far as possible by producing lots more unique designs on some different shapes and colours and, hopefully, gaining some retail support so that we can be found in some shops.
Do you have a favourite theme to design around?
We find inspiration anywhere and everywhere but seem to be drawn to a cutting-edge, underground, style often focussed around natural things such as animals, skulls, plants, etc, with a graphic modern twist. We love to incorporate our photography and everyday imagery into our work as well as our hand-drawings to create a modern feel.
What animals do you like to base design around?
On the one hand, we like fierce animals with attitude, like lions, tigers and stags. On the other hand, we love graceful creatures like birds. So far, we haven’t actually printed any monkeys!
Which of our other brands in this giveaway do you wish you owned some t-shirts from?
It’s really hard to choose – there are so many brilliant brands involved. I think we’d like one from all of them! Maybe we’ll enter every day to win?! If we had to say, then Carte Postale, AHTQApparel and Reflection Dynamics have some really cool graphics.
Who in your twitter friends do you love to follow their tweets the most?
There’s a fantastic tee community out there on Twitter. @Teegazette keep us up on all of the amazing brands emerging. @GritFX always have something interesting to put out there. Other than you guys @Lsod and @shirthunters and @malemode have fantastic blog posts and have been of great support to us Printmonkies!
Did you have any horror stories of bad Xmas presents as a child?
I am the only girl out of 4 boy cousins we used to all get the same presents from our nan. I remember watching the 3 boys open remote control cars and being so excited that I was getting one too. Then I opened my box and it was a pair of cheerleader pom poms for cheering the boys on. Girl power never sucked so much. I’m not quite over it…
Thanks goes out to Print Monkey for this interview; follow on Facebook and @Print_Monkey on twitter.

Fantastic having you involved with the 12 Days Of Christmas!! A better moment than receiving pom poms over a remote control car.
